ServiceNow Stock Plunges Despite Beating on Revenue

News · Published 30 October 2026 · Investory Tools

ServiceNow's Q3 2026 revenue rose about 20% to $4.1 billion, beating the top end of its guidance, yet the stock fell hard — CNBC reported a 27% regular-session drop, its worst on record — amid fears that AI could disrupt enterprise software. After-hours estimates were smaller (~18–20%).

A beat that wasn't enough

ServiceNow reported third-quarter 2026 total revenue of about $4.106 billion, up roughly 20.5% year over year, and said it beat the high end of its guidance. Subscription revenue was about $3.988 billion, up around 21%. The company nudged its full-year 2026 subscription revenue guidance up to roughly $15.78–$15.79 billion.

The earnings fine print

On the bottom line the picture was softer. Adjusted EPS of about $1.00 came in just below the roughly $1.02 consensus, and GAAP EPS of $0.27 trailed an estimate near $0.33, according to reporting. In a market already nervous about AI, a strong top line was not enough to offset a slight earnings shortfall and cautious sentiment.

A historic one-day drop

The stock reaction was severe, though the reported size depends on the window. CNBC said shares fell about 27% in the regular session — described as their worst day on record — while other outlets cited after-hours declines of roughly 18% to 20%. Those are different measurement points and are not directly comparable.

The bigger theme

The sell-off reignited a debate running through 2026: whether AI will expand enterprise-software demand or erode it by letting customers build or automate more themselves. ServiceNow's plunge, alongside Alphabet's drop the same week, shows how quickly that uncertainty can reprice even a company posting 20% growth.
